DRUG INFORMATION - DIDREX

Didrex Uses

Didrex is an appetite suppressant used along with diet, exercise, and behavior therapy for the short-term management of weight loss and obesity.

How Taken

You should take Didrex about 30 minutes before a meal. Your final dose of the day must be taken at least 4 to 6 hours before bedtime. If you are directed to take Didrex 1 time a day, take your dose in the morning.Warnings/Precautions

Tell your doctor your complete medical history especially if you have high blood pressure, an over-active thyroid, glaucoma, diabetes or emotional problems. Consult with your doctor if you think you are pregnant or before breast-feeding.

NOTE: This medication can be habit forming and must be used with caution. It is not recommended for individuals with prior history of addictions. Alcohol can increase unwanted side effects of dizziness. Limit alcohol use. This drug is not recommended for use in children.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Didrex, take it as soon as possible. But, do not take 2 doses at once.

Possible Side Effects

Didrex Tablets are inadvisable for patients with advanced arteriosclerosis, symptomatic cardiovascular disease, moderate to severe hypertension, hyper-thyroidism, known hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to sympathomimetic amines, and glaucoma. Benzphetamine should not be given to patients who are in an agitated state or who have a history of drug abuse.

Didrex may cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. Amphetamines have been shown to cause developmental malformations and embryotoxic in mammals at high multiples of the human dose. Didrex is inadvisable in women who are or may become pregnant.

If this drug is used during pregnancy, or if the patient becomes pregnant while taking this drug, the patient should be apprised of the potential hazard to the fetus. It is recommended that you do not take Didrex if you are pregnant.

Didrex is also excreted in breast milk. Do not breast feed while taking Didrex. If you suspect an overdose, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include restlessness, tremor, rapid breathing, confusion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps.

Storage

Didrex must be stored at room temperature below 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in a tightly closed container, away from heat and light.

Overdose

Seek emergency medical attention.
